A peer-to-peer platform where users ask questions answered by independent computer operators, with no middleman company, no account required, and all prompts
About rootmode

rootmode is a peer-to-peer discovery platform that connects users directly with independent computer operators running AI models. Instead of going through a company's servers, your requests are encrypted and sent directly to someone's machine. There's no account signup, no subscription, and no central service that can be shut down.
Operators set their own prices and compete with each other, making AI cheaper than typical hosted services. Users can ask questions or request images, and get answers in seconds. The platform runs on multiple AI models including GLM, Kimi, DeepSeek, and others. Anyone with a GPU can become an operator by running the worker software on their own machine.
All prompts are encrypted and only the answering computer sees the question. The software is open source and free to download for Windows, Mac, or Linux. There's no signup form or account required—just download, open, and start asking.

FAQ
- Do I need to be good with computers to use rootmode?
- No. If you can open an app and type, you can use it. There is nothing to set up or configure.
- How is rootmode different from ChatGPT or OpenRouter?
- Those services use one company taking your request through their own computers. rootmode has no company in the middle—your app talks directly to whoever is answering.
- Why is rootmode cheaper than other AI services?
- Nobody is paying for enormous data centres. People use computers they already own, and they compete with each other on price. The app itself is free.
- Who can see what I type?
- Only the computer answering it, and the data is not kept afterwards. If you prefer to keep everything private, you can run it entirely on your own machine.
- What happens if rootmode disappears?
- It keeps working. There is no central service to switch off—it is people's computers helping each other, and that continues without the company.
