FilmCraft is a free, open-source non-linear video editor developed by ArtCraft. It runs natively on macOS, Windows, Linux and FreeBSD, and also works in web browsers through WebAssembly. The editor is written in Rust with no FFmpeg dependency and features native decoders for H.264, HEVC, ProRes, VP9, AV1, AAC and Opus.
The interface mimics Adobe Premiere Pro's familiar workflow, with bins in the Project panel, clips in a Source monitor, and sequences in a Program monitor. It supports three-point editing with ripple, roll, slip and slide trims, and uses the same keyboard conventions as Premiere. The software includes over 90 video effects, about 30 transitions, professional color grading tools with curves, color wheels, HSL secondaries and LUTs, broadcast audio features with EBU R128 loudness meters, and frame-exact timekeeping for drop-frame timelines.
FilmCraft is licensed under MIT or Apache-2.0 with no subscription, watermark or export limit. The team rates it approximately 56% production-ready. It supports export to H.264 MP4, ProRes 422 HQ, PNG sequences and GIF, though it cannot directly import Adobe Premiere Pro projects.
