What is an AI explainer video?
An AI explainer video is a short narrated video where software writes the script, generates the voice, and creates the visuals from a prompt or text. With Explainimate, the visuals are hand-drawn whiteboard scenes that appear while the narration explains them.
Can I make AI explainer videos for free?
Yes. Explainimate offers free script generation (up to 5 per day for signed-in accounts), and hand editing and exports are always free. Drawing requires credits; new accounts get free credits to try. Videos from accounts that have never bought credits carry a small watermark. Paid plans start at $9.90/month.
Can I use my own script?
Yes. You can paste your own script and keep every word by switching on the "Use my script word for word" option. The narration keeps your text and the AI only plans the pictures. Uploading your own voice recording is not yet supported; narration uses AI voices or captions with no voice.
What languages are supported?
Narration is available in nine languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. On-screen titles and labels follow the narration language, and you can generate the video again in a different language to create versions for different audiences.
Can I use the explainer videos commercially?
Yes. Videos made with credits from a paid plan or credit pack come with a commercial licence for use on monetized channels, in courses, in ads, or for client work with no attribution required. Videos made only with free credits are for personal use and evaluation.
