About LayerGrab

The LayerGrab homepage

LayerGrab turns flat images into editable layers using AI. Upload a PNG, JPG or WebP file and the tool separates text, products and graphics into individual transparent layers within 60-100 seconds, automatically filling in the background behind them. Every layer receives a readable English name like "Yellow Price Tag $129". Users can copy individual layers to Figma, Photoshop or Canva, download them as PNG files, or export the entire stack as a ZIP archive or layered Photoshop file.

The tool works directly on layergrab.com and is also available as plugins for Photoshop, Figma, Sketch and Chrome. It supports images up to 20 MB and typically returns 7-10 layers plus a filled background.

FAQ

How do I turn an image into layers?
Upload the picture to LayerGrab. In about a minute it returns every main element as a transparent layer of its own, with the background behind them filled in. You can then copy a single layer, download it as PNG, or export the whole stack as a ZIP or a Photoshop file.
What is the difference between removing the background and splitting into layers?
Background removal keeps one subject and throws everything else away. Splitting keeps every element as its own layer, including text and small graphics, and also rebuilds the background that was hidden behind them, so nothing is lost.
Can I edit the text after splitting?
The text comes back as its own image layer, not as editable type. The background behind it is filled in, so you can hide the text layer and set new text in its place in any design tool.
How are credits charged?
Every layer the AI returns costs credits, and the filled background counts as one layer. Basic plans and credit packs use 10 credits per layer; Premium uses 8. One credit is worth $0.01.
Is there a free trial?
Every account gets one free split of its own image, with every layer downloadable as PNG, ZIP or PSD. The sample splits work for everyone, without an account. A one-time credit pack from $20 is the cheapest way to start.
