About Vowelkit

Vowelkit is a free, independent daily word puzzle game. Each day, everyone plays the same hidden five-letter word with six guesses and colored tile clues. Players can build daily streaks, earn XP and levels, collect badges, and compete on a server-checked leaderboard ranked by fewest guesses and solve time. No app or account is required to play and appear on the leaderboard as a guest. Beyond the daily puzzle, Vowelkit offers unlimited rounds, multiple puzzle modes from 3 to 11 letters, a kids mode with everyday words, and the ability to create and share custom puzzles with friends.

FAQ

How do I play Vowelkit?

Type any five-letter word and press Enter. Green tiles show letters in the right spot, yellow tiles show letters in the word but wrong spot, and gray tiles show letters not in the word. You have six guesses.

Do I need an account to play?

No. You can play and appear on the leaderboard as a guest. Signing in is optional and keeps your streak, XP and badges in sync across devices.

Is Vowelkit the same as Wordle?

No. Vowelkit is an independent daily word game like Wordle, with its own word list, XP, badges and a server-checked leaderboard. It is not made by or connected to The New York Times.

When does the daily puzzle change?

At midnight in your local time. Everyone plays the same word on the same day, so you can compare results with friends and on the leaderboard.

How does the leaderboard rank players?

Fewest guesses first, with each hint counting as an extra guess. Ties are broken by solve time, measured on the server from your first guess to your winning guess. Results are checked on the server, so scores are fair.
