About Sensecast

Sensecast is a multi-source weather application available on iOS, Android, and coming to macOS and web. It goes beyond traditional weather apps by explaining meteorological concepts through a built-in 43-topic atmospheric science academy accessible within every metric. The app features live tornado tracking from NOAA, power-grid monitoring with outage counts and risk scores, and hazard trackers for earthquakes, wildfires, and tropical cyclones. Users can compare 18 different forecast sources side by side and generate storm verification reports with reference IDs for insurance documentation. The app includes an interactive Doppler radar with multiple color schemes, physics-driven animated backgrounds that reflect current conditions, and various widget options for home screens and lock screens. Sensecast is built by one person at Greigh Studios LLC in Michigan and operates with no account requirement, no advertising, and keeps user data on-device.

FAQ
- What sources does Sensecast use for weather data?
- Sensecast uses 18 forecast sources including NOAA, ECMWF, DWD, Environment and Climate Change Canada, JMA, UK Met Office, and Météo-France. The free version includes 15 sources, while Pro adds 3 flagship supercomputer models. Severe weather data comes from NOAA Storm Prediction Center, earthquakes from USGS, wildfires from NASA FIRMS, tropical cyclones from GDACS, and power outage data from the Outage Data Initiative Nationwide (ODIN) and the U.S. Department of Energy.
- How does the storm verification report work?
- Sensecast generates a location-verified meteorological record with its own randomly generated reference ID that can be verified at sensecast.app/verify. The report includes location coordinates, the selected observation window, peak gust and precipitation data, the nearest airport weather station's measured conditions, active NWS warnings, and utility outage status. It can be exported as an image or text summary and is designed for property damage and solar generation claims.
- What happens to my data and privacy in Sensecast?
- Sensecast does not require an account and does not collect analytics. Location and preferences are stored only on your device. Forecasts come from public government open-data endpoints, so no profile is built. The app has no advertising and minimal data collection, with exceptions only for purchase verification records, storm reports registered for verification, and any launch notification waitlist entries.
- How do I restore my Pro subscription on a new phone?
- Purchases are tied to your App Store or Google Play account, not to the device. Open the Pro screen and tap Restore Purchases to re-check with the store and reactivate your subscription or Lifetime Pass on the current phone. If restoration fails, email support with your store account's region and approximate purchase date.
- What should I do if weather won't load in the app?
- Open Settings, go to Meteorology & Data, and tap Connection Diagnostics. This tests DNS, TLS, each provider endpoint, your device clock, and runs a real fetch to show the exact error. Copy or share the report and attach it to a support email—it is the most useful diagnostic information for troubleshooting.
