An open-source Android app that lets you locate, check status, sound alerts and remotely lock phones you own through SMS pairing.
About Protect My Phone
Protect My Phone is an open-source Android application designed for owner-approved device management across multiple phones. Pair trusted devices over SMS and QR-assisted fingerprint verification, with both owners approving the connection.
The app provides location tracking with timestamps, device status updates including battery and network information, and movement notifications when sharing is active. Users can trigger sound alerts to locate phones and optionally enable remote screen locking with Device Admin access on managed devices.
All pairing and status data remains stored on the phones themselves. SMS delivery relies on carrier service, and location features depend on device permissions and Android settings. The app is available as a direct APK download since Google Play excludes SMS-based device locators from permitted uses.

FAQ
- How is my location data handled?
- Location requests and status reports remain on your phones. Map display uses OpenFreeMap, which receives your IP address and displayed map areas. QR scanning uses Google ML Kit, which processes camera images on-device and may send technical information to Google including device model, app version, and scanning events.
- Do I need an account to use Protect My Phone?
- No, the app requires no account or central command server. Communication between paired phones happens directly via SMS.
- Can I use this app to track anyone's phone without permission?
- No. The app is designed exclusively for devices you own or have explicit permission to manage. Both owners must understand and agree to all features. Using it for covert tracking, stalking or harassment is prohibited.
- What Android version is required?
- Protect My Phone requires Android 8.0 or higher.
- Will Google Play Protect block the installation?
- Google Play Protect may show a warning because the app is distributed outside Google Play and requests SMS permissions. You can temporarily turn off Play Protect scanning in Play Store settings to install it, then turn scanning back on.
