PickPokemon

About PickPokemon

PickPokemon is a free, fan-made tool that selects one random Pokémon species at a time from the National Pokédex covering Gen 1 through Gen 9. Users can narrow the pool by type, generation, region, rarity, evolution stage, ability, or base stats before generating their result.

The generator is designed for artists and writers seeking creative prompts, Nuzlocke challengers, players building random teams, and fans who want a quick way to pick a Pokémon. It includes filter options that work as alternatives within the same group (selecting Fire and Water includes either type) and stack across different groups (Fire plus Legendary includes only Pokémon meeting both conditions).

The site also offers more specific generators for starters, legendary Pokémon, shiny artwork, and team creation, along with related calculators and games.

FAQ

Does the generator include every Pokémon?

The generator includes 1,025 species from the National Pokédex covering Gen 1 through Gen 9. It uses one entry per species rather than separate entries for alternate forms, costumes, or temporary battle transformations.

Can I combine several filters?

Yes. Multiple choices within the same group are alternatives (Fire and Water includes either type), while choices from different groups must all match (Fire, Gen 1, and fully evolved returns only species meeting all three conditions).

Does the shiny option change the odds?

No. The shiny switch changes the artwork used for the selected species but does not simulate in-game shiny odds or make one species more likely to appear. The underlying Pokémon draw remains random within the filtered pool.

Can this generator create a full team?

The homepage intentionally returns one Pokémon per click. To draw six different species together, users should use the random Pokémon team generator, which is designed for complete team results.
