About Build A Player

The Build A Player homepage

Build A Player is an independent sports builder game that turns sports debates into playable strategy. Choose quarterback, wide receiver, or running back, then construct that player one decision at a time across nine rounds. Each round presents an NFL team with an eligible player; you lock one trait and lose access to that player, solving the next round with a smaller pool. Classic mode uses current stars, while All-Time mode adds legends. When your player is complete, choose a franchise fit and simulate a full 17-game season with individual statistics, team record, awards, playoff finish, strongest trait, and weakest link. The ratings are independently created and the simulation is deterministic, meaning the same picks and seed always produce identical results.

FAQ

How does Build A Player work?
Choose a position (quarterback, wide receiver, or running back) and mode (current stars or all-time legends). Each round reveals an NFL team and eligible player; you lock one open trait from nine options, lose access to that player, and move to the next round with a smaller pool. Once all nine traits are locked, select a franchise fit and simulate a complete 17-game season with full statistics and playoff results.
What are the differences between Classic and All-Time modes?
Classic mode uses current NFL stars, while All-Time mode includes legendary players from football history. Both modes use the same nine-round format and trait system.
Are the ratings official or copied from real games?
The ratings are independently created entertainment values and are not copied from official league feeds, Madden, 2K, or other commercial games. Results are fictional entertainment simulations, not real-world predictions or scouting evaluations.
Do I need to create an account to play?
No, the core games are free to play without creating an account. Game progress stays in local browser storage, and you can share results using links that contain only the choices needed to reproduce your build.
Is Build A Player affiliated with the NFL?
No, Build A Player is an independent fan-made entertainment project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or licensed by the NFL, any league, team, player association, athlete, or video game publisher. Player names, photos, and team marks are used descriptively.
